Glass Adhesion Promoter (GAP)
The Glass Adhesion Promoter (GAP) product line was specially formulated with cooperation from technical and engineering personnel at 3M™. GAP uses Dow Corning® Silane technology. It is recommended for use with 3M™ VHB™ Acrylic Foam Tape for optimizing adhesion to glass in applications where moisture is likely to occur.
The pretreatment of glass surfaces with GAP prior to taping is essential for a lasting bond in environments that would be exposed to high humidity, rainfall or any other form of moisture.
GAP acts as a coupling agent, preventing water vapors from undercutting the adhesion bond. In effect, it permanently changes the glass surface from hydrophilic to hydrophobic.
- GAP-1 is an individually sealed pad for convenient one-time use. It is cost effective, consumer friendly, and compact in size.
